Call for works

29th Call for works

It is essential to open up creative, imaginative spaces for sound, and to encourage people to listen.

You are a field recordist, author of radio fictions or documentaries, sound artist, podcaster…? inventor of forms which involve the narrative plasticity of sounds? This call is conceived for you. If they are selected, your works will be played during this 29th edition of the Phonurgia Nova Awards and will compet for the prizes. If your projects (submitted as a written proposal) are selected, you will be hosted in one of our 5 partner studios to carry them out, in the frame of our residencie’s program.

You may submit in each of the 5 categories below :
1) finalised productions (eligible for the various prizes) *
2) yet to be realised projects (eligible for the benefit of Residencies)

All works (and written projects) are welcome as long as they express a creative approach within the realms of podcast or radio art. All details, rules and registrations form are available below.

* Please choose the category which is the more relevant for you. If the committee of preselection thinks your piece should be in another category, we will let you know.

5 entries // 5 prizes // 5 residencies

The art of listening

Sound Art Prize // 1 000 €

In certain folds of the waves, the radio allows us to invent works that could materialise nowhere else. This prize rewards the most innovative works designed specifically to explore the great depths of sound/radio art.

Radio drama and fiction

Sound Fiction // 1 000 €

Headphones, loudspeakers, transistors, tuners, geolocation-based listening? For on minute, one hour or a whole night? By the mean of audio text and drama, and the call of imaginary, sound fiction renews our reading of the world.

Audio documentaries

speech archives award // 1 000 €

A documentary award to distinguish authors affirming talent, audacity and freedom in the collection of personal or collective imaginaries.

Soundscapes

Prize « Field Recording » awarded by the Museum Reattu Arles // 1 000 €

How do we tuned in to the landscapes that we encounter ? What do we hear when we listen them of a new ear? On what premise do we explore territories and those who live within them?

« Pierre Schaeffer Discoveries »

Prize dedicated to the young authors // 500 €

A new generation seized the power of sound thanks to the arrival of new tools (audio-blogs, free software, podcasting, digital recorders, smartphones) which enabled democratic access. This generation begins its own revolution of listening. To these fascinated young people, Phonurgia Nova reserves a ``Pierre Schaeffer Prize`` (in homage to the incomparable sound and radio pioneer).
