2018 Call for works

23rd Call for works

It is essential to open up creative, imaginative spaces for sound. And to encourage people to listen.

You are a field recordist, an author of fictions or radio documentaries, creator of soundwalks, director of Hörspiel, publisher of podcasts, inventor of digital forms which involve the narrative plasticity of sounds? These Prizes are conceived for you. If they are selected, your works will be play at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France during this 23rd edition of Phonurgia Nova Awards.

You can submit :
1) finalized productions (eligible at the various Prizes)
2) not finalized projects: models and scenarios (eligible for the benefit of Residences)

All works are welcome as long as they are the expression of a creative approach of sound or radio art. This year, the international Jury will award 7,500 € worth
prizes. All details, rules and registrations form available below.

Radio Art

Prize awarded by the SACEM (Association of Composers and music publishers to protect copyright and royalties) // 2 000 €

In certain folds of the waves, the radio allows to invent works which could materialize nowhere else. This price rewards the most innovative works designed specifically for her and which dig the sound depth.

Sound fiction

Prize awarded by the SACD // 3 000 €

Helmets, loudspeakers, transistor, tuner, geolocation-based listening? For two minutes, one hour or a whole night? The sound fiction renews our relationship to the world and to the others.

Transmission

Prize « Human word archives » awarded by the BNF // 1 000 €

To record the voices and the silences of the world is a whole art. This new prize encourages the authors who venture on the difficult way of the captation and the transmission of the human word.

Soundscapes

Prize « Field Recording » awarded by the Museum of Camargue // 1 000 €

How put itself tuned to the landscapes which we cross? What do we hear when we sound them of a new ear? On what base to meet territories and those who live in them?

Prize awarded by Phonurgia Nova to reward the young authors // 500 €

A new generation seized the sound thanks to the new tools (audio-blogs, free software, podcasting, digital recorders, smartphones) which democratized the access. This generation begins its own revolution of listening. To these fascinated young people, Phonurgia Nova tightens the ear and reserves a price `` Pierre Schaeffer`` (In hommage to the incomparable sound and radio pioneer).
